From today, and during several days, I'll take you with me for a long stroll to Saint-Paul-de-Vence.(You'll find some more pictures on my other blog).
Saint-Paul est un petit village médiéval situé à l'est de Nice.Perché sur une haute colline, il était autrefois destiné à protéger l'ancienne frontière avec le Var. C'est pourquoi c'est un endroit fortifié, entouré de remparts.

Saint-Paul is a small village from the Middle-age located on the west of Nice.Sticked on a high hill , it was build to protect the ancient frontier with the Var.That's why it 's a fortified place, surrounded with ramparts.
Le village a gardé son aspect médiéval, ses murs épais, son clocher, ses toits en tuiles rondes...~~
The village has kept its medieval aspect,with its thick walls, its bell tower, its roofs made of round tiles...
Pour entrer , il faut passer sous une grande porte, où l'on peut voir un canon de 1544! ~~~
To enter into the village, you must cross an old gate, where you can see a cannon from 1544!
La vue depuis les remparts montre le paysage alentour, parsemé de cyprès et de mimosas en fleurs en cette saison.

The sight from the ramparts shows the landscape with cypress-trees and mimosas for which it's the blossom season.
Au loin, la Méditerranée...~~~
On the skyline, the Mediterranéan Sea...
Il n'y a qu'une seule rue qui fait le tour des remparts. A l'intérieur, on circule à pieds.~~~
There is only one street around the city, following the ramparts; Inside the ity, you can only walk.
La vue vers sud, avec son vieux cimetière, toujours des mimosas, et au loin, encore la mer...~~~
The view towards the south, with the old cimetery, more mimosas, and the sea...
Le donjon mediéval et le clocher de l'église se dressent côte à côte vers le ciel gris.~~~
The medieval donjon and the bell-tower are standing side by side in the grey sky.
En marchant, on peut voir les maisons, toutes anciennes, avec leurs murs de pierre, leurs grandes jarres, leurs fenêtres arrondies...~~~
Walking through the streets, you can see the houses, each of them being very ancient, with tall walls, big jars, round windows...
Les murs sont souvent recouverts de vigne et de boungainvilliers, en repos pour l'hiver.~~~
Walls are often covered with vineyards and other climbing plants, which are resting during the winter.
En face de la porte principale, une petite chapelle vous souhaite bonne route...~~~
In front of the main entrance, a little chapel whises you a good travel...

Voilà un joli projet! J'aime beaucoup ce petit village, je m'y arrête à chaque fois que je viens dans la région! J'ai pratiquement les mêmes photos, mais avec un ciel d'été...

A fascinating place. All those cannons peeping out of the walls, narrow street, fantastic views - it has got it all!
