~~
There are statues everywhere in Rome: in the streets, in the churches, in the yards, in the museums, on the terraces, in the gardens, in the fountains..
There are hundreds, thousends of them!

~~
They may be tall or small, famous or not, made by a well known artist or by a unknown one..

~~
They show gods, or people who existed, wether they are famous or not, they show pieces of real history or of mythology, sometimes of litterature..

~~
Some bring tears to your eyes..

~~
To choose only a few pictures to show was the most difficult thing to do for me..

~~
There is so much strengh, so much beauty, so much power in each of those statues!

~~
Behind each statue, there is so much history, so much centuries, so much time..

~~
They are carrying the greatness of a civilisation, they are telling a whole lost world..

~~
Their beautyful and forever still glance are looking at us looking at them, then it seems they follow us when we are living..

~~
And their cold smile seems to say: "I stay, but it's for eternity,much farther than the time when even your name will be forgotten..."

~~~
And when we go away, we are crying, because we know they are right...
I enjoyed viewing all the statues you shared BUT I am not so sure I would like to see them daily everywhere.
So may statues - and so little time to see them all. No wonder you took so many pictures so that you can enjoy them now.
PS I might have taken even more ;-)
These statues are interesting and beautiful. I like your philosophical thoughts about the statues remaining even when we're gone. The next time I see a classical statue or painting I will probably think of that.
Wonderful statues.
I think they have talked something universal so long time.
So glad that you directed me here... I may put a "stone faces" label on today's post and then continue as I show new ones... Merci! Yours are lovely and this one is my favorite.
Bisous,
Genie
